Agentforce + Claude Code can speed up Salesforce development, but safety should not be treated as a “later” task.
A few habits I’d follow before connecting them:
1. Start with least privilege
Claude Code should only access the repo, files, commands, and MCP servers it truly needs. Keep “ask before action” enabled for risky commands.
2. Do not paste raw customer data
Use synthetic data or masked samples. Salesforce’s Trust Layer is built around safeguards like grounding, data masking, toxicity detection, audit trails, and zero data retention with supported LLM partners. Use that mindset in every dev workflow.
3. Respect Salesforce permissions
Agentforce actions should run within the user’s existing Salesforce access model. Do not bypass sharing rules, FLS, object permissions, or approval flows just because an AI agent can generate code faster.
4. Review every generated change
Treat Claude Code output like a junior developer’s PR: useful, fast, but never auto-trusted. Check Apex, flows, SOQL, API calls, tests, error handling, and security impact.
5. Log decisions, not just code
Keep a record of what the agent changed, why it changed it, and who approved it. Auditability is not overhead. It is how teams keep trust at scale.
The real win is not “AI wrote the code.”
The real win is “AI helped us build faster without weakening governance.”
Agentic development is coming fast. The safest teams will not be the slowest teams. They will be the teams that design guardrails before the demo.
